The judo team from Tajikistan is preparing for another serious test in the international arena. From May 8 to 10, Astana will host the Grand Slam series tournament – one of the key stages of the International Judo Federation World Tour.
The fourth Qazaqstan Barysy Grand Slam will bring together 300 athletes from 36 countries. The competition will be held at the Martial Arts Palace named after Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov and will traditionally become an important point in the formation of the world ranking.
Four representatives of Tajikistan have been announced for the tournament, each of whom will compete not only for medals, but also for the most important ranking points: Shokir Gayubov – 60 kg category, Behruzi Khojazoda – 81 kg, Muhammadikbol Toshov – 90 kg, Mukhsin Malayev – 100 kg.

In addition, the tournament also has a financial component: the winners receive 5,000 euros, silver medalists – 3,000, bronze – 1,500. Part of the prize money traditionally goes to the coaching staff.
For Tajik judokas, participation in Astana is an important stage of the Olympic cycle. After successful performances at previous tournaments, including the home Dushanbe Grand Slam, the team continues to gain points and strengthen its position in the world rankings.
