In the first quarter of 2026 in Tajikistan, the number of new entrepreneurs exceeded the number of closed ones: 11.5 thousand businesses were registered against 6.2 thousand that ceased operations, which ensured the overall growth of the sector.
As a result, the number of active individual entrepreneurs increased to 349.7 thousand, which is 4.3% more than a year ago. About this reports the Statistics Agency.

This structure shows that small businesses in the country are still closely connected with agriculture, but at the same time they are developing in the sphere of trade and services.
Growth was recorded in all categories. The fastest growing number of entrepreneurs working under a patent (+9.5%) and under a certificate with special conditions (+8.2%), notes the Statistics Agency. This indicates the expansion of small businesses in cities and the growth of the service sector.
The development of small businesses in the country is supported at the state level. Valid in Tajikistan legislation on the protection and support of entrepreneurship, which provides for the creation of favorable conditions for doing business, including tax incentives, government programs and financial support. In particular, the state implements entrepreneurship development programs and provides support through grants and special funds.

Moreover, in the country state program is being implemented entrepreneurship support for 2023–2027, aimed at developing entrepreneurship and improving business conditions.
The total volume of its financing is about 113 million somoni, of which 19 million come from the budget, about 87 million from development partners and 7 million from the private sector.
The program is expected to increase the number of entrepreneurs, create new jobs and expand production and exports.
