Managers and owners of the transport unit arrived at the kilometer 44 from the road to the coast, in the El Cristal sector, minutes after the traffic accident recorded on the morning of this Thursday, April 23, between a water tanker and a bus from the Posorja cooperative that was headed to Guayaquil.
On the side of the road, with traffic still partially restricted and the presence of emergency teams, representatives of the cooperative continued to gather information about what happened, based on reports from colleagues who had witnessed the first moments after the collision.
Jesús Alcocer, manager of the cooperative, explained that they learned about the incident around 08:00. “We were informed by colleagues who were on the road. We were in a meeting and we came immediately to see what had happened,” he said.
The manager pointed out that, based on the preliminary information circulating at the site, a possible lane invasion by the tanker.
“From what we have been told, it seems that the tanker had invaded the lane, we do not know if it was due to a mechanical failure. We were heading towards Guayaquil when this happened,” he said.
Alcocer confirmed that the bus driver died in the accident and identified him in his testimony. “The driver was Rene Floresone of our best elements. He has never had problems on the road, he always did his job,” he said.
He added that the unit operated under regular controls and that staff receive regular training. “They require constant reviews from us, we are up to date on this, but we see that these events continue to occur on the road. It is necessary that all drivers be controlled. vehicles that circulate here,” he said.
Testimony of the owner of the bus
At the site there was also Gloria Lucinowner of the bus, who arrived after being alerted to the incident. “They told us when he was leaving home. It was very unfortunate,” he said.
Lucín confirmed that he knew the driver and highlighted his performance. “He was a responsible person, he was not one to run or recklessness“, said.

The bus driver’s relatives did not want to give statements and remained in a secluded area, accompanied by relatives.
Relatives of one of the tanker’s victims indicated that they learned about the incident from co-workers. They preferred not to identify themselves and avoided giving further details.
A relative of the tanker driver briefly stated that the last thing he knew was that he had gone out to do his work day and that the family was waiting for instructions from the authorities. authorities.
