Last year, major repairs covered 17 thousand km of power lines across the country and 420 substations. According to the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in 2026 the work will affect the same number of kilometers of power grids.
The leaders in terms of the scale of renewal of power grids will be Akmola (2.5 thousand km), Pavlodar (2.4 thousand km), Zhambyl regions (1.8 thousand km) and Ulytau regions (1.8 thousand km).
Significant volumes of repairs are planned in the Karaganda and North Kazakhstan regions – 1.1 thousand km each, as well as in the Kostanay (731 km), East Kazakhstan (756 km) and Turkestan (677 km) regions.
In the cities of Astana, Almaty and Shymkent, work will cover 153 km, 264 km and 67 km of networks, respectively.
In addition, 444 substations, 3.4 thousand distribution points and transformer substations will be repaired throughout the country.
After modernization, the level of wear and tear on power grids in the country will further decrease to 65%, this will increase the reliability of power supply in the regions and will reduce the number of accidents and technological violations in the new season.
Previously in the south of Kazakhstan updated electrical networks that have not been modernized for more than half a century.
