Avetis Arakelyan quoted Samvel Karapetyan, who had started to rebuild one of the historical buildings of Gyumri, the crumbling building of “Our Childhood Tango”, without any expectations, but because of the absurd “election bribery” article, the renovation of the building was stopped.

Last year, Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan cooperated with the “Tashir” charitable foundation, which for years wanted to renovate the “Varem-Marem” building with its own funds and hand it over to the city, without any commercial purpose, that is, without taking a single square meter.

The construction had started, if I’m not mistaken, at this point those works have been stopped by the relevant ministry or department, because according to the latest infamous law, it will be considered as pre-election bribery.

If we go in that direction, it will not lead us anywhere, it doesn’t matter who the investor is, put aside the name, the other investors will say: we wanted to do something good in Gyumri, let’s come, invest, because of some political processes, our activities will be unfairly stopped and delayed. It does not lead to a good place,” said Avetis Arakelyan.

By the way, Avetis Arakelyan also complained that because of this law, they will no longer be able to help Gyumri citizens who find themselves in a difficult situation and request financial assistance from the municipality.
