A total of 23 athletes and 10 support persons from Greenland are participating this weekend in the sports festival, which is Denmark’s largest sporting event for people with developmental disabilities.
Naalakkersuisoq Nivi Olsen (D) expresses support for the Greenlandic participation in the Special Olympics Sports Festival, which will be held in Roskilde this weekend.
According to naalakkersuisoq, 23 athletes and 10 support persons from Greenland are participating in the sports festival, which is Denmark’s largest sporting event for people with developmental disabilities.
The participants represent several places in the country and must compete in, among other things, football, boccia, athletics, badminton, floorball and bowling.
This is the second time that Greenland is participating, and the increased number of participants testifies to a positive development and a strong commitment in the area, says Nivi Olsen in a press release:
– There is great pride in the Greenlandic squad, which represents community, will and joy of life. You are strong role models who inspire others through your commitment and enjoyment of sport.
– We wish all participants and supporters good luck at the Special Olympics Sports Festival 2026. I am sure that you will all have some unforgettable experiences, strengthen the community and take home new inspiration, says Nivi Olsen.
