Warning Marianne Nielsencomposer, has been nominated for the Nordic Council’s Music Prize 2026 for his EP, Sila, which was released in January last year. Among other things, AG wrote in the review of the EP:
– Varna evokes emotions such as identity, pride and strength in the finest way through his music, which fuses the traditional and the modern together.
Now she is nominated together with 12 other musicians from the Nordics.
The council justifies the nomination, among other things, by the fact that she works with her music to preserve and make visible the East Greenlandic drum dance and drum dance tradition.
– During the recent political upheaval surrounding the USA’s interest in Greenland, Varna has also made a mark with a number of strong and defiant singles that articulate Greenland’s right to self-determination, it is also stated in the Nordic Council’s justification, which can be read at the council’s website.
