The teachers’ union in Greenland, IMAK, has been visited by participants from foreign teachers’ unions who have come to take part in a conference.
Ten members from the international teachers’ organization Education International arrived on 8 and 9 June in Nuuk to participate in a conference organized by IMAK.
– IMAK is proud that so many of the world’s teacher organizations have traveled to Greenland for the first time to visit IMAK, writes IMAK.
The international teachers’ organizations have not overlooked the fact that Greenland is under pressure and is being threatened by a major power.
Support for our country
Outside Inatsisartut’s conference hall, conference participants demonstrated on Tuesday, June 9, to show their support for our country.
– We have shown our support for Greenland and that we stand together across countries and cannot be shaken, write the teachers’ organisations.
Other topics
Several important objectives were discussed at the conference.

The topics dealt with at the conference were: Policy for teachers, professional negotiations, working environment conditions, the opportunity for teachers to use their mother tongue in teaching and a special focus on the conditions for students who may be in a vulnerable position.
