From 1 July, organizers of paid hunting must have had permanent residence in Greenland for the previous 5 years and relevant experience with hunting.
Naalakkersuisut has approved an executive order with new rules for paid hunting and paid fishing.
The rules come into force on 1 July, and among the most significant changes are stricter requirements for organizers of paid hunting. This is stated by Naalakkersuisut in a press release.
A requirement is now being introduced that organizers must have had permanent residence in Greenland for the previous 5 years and relevant experience with catching.
Similar requirements will apply to the use of guides at paid hunting events. They must have permanent residence in Greenland and also have relevant experience with catching.
With regard to paid fishing, tourists will have the opportunity to buy licenses for paid fishing via a new web portal.
According to Naalakkersuisut, there is also the possibility that tourist operators can buy licenses on behalf of their customers, and the new web portal should therefore make it easier to get fishing licenses issued to tourists.
The executive order can be read here.
