The Secretariat against Sexual Violence, Exploitation and Human Trafficking (SVET) reports that Guatemala promotes Decree No. 15-2026 to strengthen actions against money laundering and crimes linked to organized crime, such as human trafficking.
The Secretariat against Sexual Violence, Exploitation and Trafficking in Persons (SVET) points out that Decree No. 15-2026, Comprehensive Law for the Prevention and Repression of Money Laundering or Other Assets and the Financing of Terrorism, strengthens legal mechanisms to detect and investigate illicit resources allegedly used by criminal structures related to human trafficking.
According to SVET, the fight against money laundering associated with crimes such as human trafficking contributes to weakening the illicit finances of organized criminal groups and seeks to prevent these structures from operating with impunity at the national and international level, in addition to strengthening the institutional response and the country’s security.
