    Changes in the MP: prosecutors against Corruption, Kidnappings and Human Trafficking are transferred


    On the afternoon of this Tuesday, June 2, the Public Ministry (MP) carried out a series of internal movements in different specialized and section prosecutor’s offices, as part of the reorganization promoted by the new administration headed by Attorney General Gabriel García Luna.

    Among the changes stands out the transfer of Raul Figueroa to the Anti-Kidnapping Prosecutor’s Office. Figueroa previously served as head of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.

    Besides, Gilberto de Jesús Porres de Pazhusband of former Attorney General María Consuelo Porras, was assigned to the Palencia Municipal Prosecutor’s Office. Porres de Paz was part of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office during Porras’ administration.

    Prosecutor Cinthia Monteroso was removed from the Metropolitan Regional Prosecutor’s Office and was appointed as Western Regional Chief. Monteroso will be in charge of the prosecutor’s offices of the departments of Sacatepéquez, Chimaltenango and Quiché.

    Nelly Morataya, head of the Prosecutor’s Office against Transnational Crimes, was transferred to the head of the Special Prosecutor’s Office against Impunity (Feci), but she did not accept the position and would have resigned from the institution.

    Morataya was in charge of the Narco Prosecutor’s Office and two days before María Consuelo Porras left office as Attorney General, he was transferred to the Transnational Crime Prosecutor’s Office.

    Marylin Solange Castillo It was transferred to the Prosecutor’s Office for Crimes against the Cultural Heritage of the Nation. Castillo was in charge of the Administrative Crimes Prosecutor’s Office, from where he requested arrest warrants against former officials of the Ministry of the Interior for the escape of 20 ringleaders from Barrio 18 from the Fraijanes 2 prison.

    Alfredo Solorzano He assumed duties in the Prosecutor’s Office against Human Trafficking. Solórzano was head of the Prosecutor’s Office for Customs Fraud and Smuggling Crimes. In addition, he was in charge of the Prosecutor’s Office for Crimes against Life and the Prosecutor’s Office for Crimes against Intellectual Property. He was also one of the candidates who presented his paperwork to be a magistrate of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal.

    Hassen Coy López He was appointed to the Prosecutor’s Office against Transnational Crimes. Previously he was a section prosecutor of the Office of the Prosecutor against Human Trafficking.

    Another movement was Dennis Cisneros He was appointed head of the Prosecutor’s Office against Tourist Crimes, a unit in charge of investigating criminal acts that affect national and foreign visitors. Cisneros was deputy prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office against Organized Crime and, two days before Consuelo Porras’ departure, he was transferred to the Prosecutor’s Office against the Cultural Heritage of the Nation in Antigua Guatemala, Sacatepéquez.

    Cisneros led the investigation for the kidnapping of the dentist Julio Amícar Martínez, However, before leaving office, former Attorney General Consuelo Porras appointed Saul Sanchez as head of the Anti-Kidnapping Prosecutor’s Office. Sánchez, who directed the investigations of the Usac casepresented his resignation to Attorney General Gabriel García Luna on May 28.

    was also notified Freddy Santos of his transfer from the Migrant Assistance Prosecutor’s Office to the Economic Crimes Prosecutor’s Office; Maria Esther Guzman was in charge of the operation Migrant Merchants Northwest Region When he was in the Transnational Crimes Prosecutor’s Office, he will now be in charge of the Environmental Crimes Prosecutor’s Office.

    In addition, Blanca Monzón was appointed to the Usurpation Crimes Prosecutor’s Office, after serving in the Tourist Crimes Prosecutor’s Office.

    A position was requested from the Department of Communication and Press of the MP, but they indicated that they did not have information about the changes in the heads of the prosecutor’s offices.
