The Balaton region has won the International Travel Awards’ Best Family Destination in Europe award, which serves as international recognition that Lake Balaton is now one of Europe’s most family-friendly tourist destinations, VisitBalaton365 informed MTI.
Thanks to the region’s deliberate destination development efforts in recent years, as entered by VisitBalaton365, it has become known on the international tourism market not only as a summer resort but also as a year-round family destination. The award is particularly important feedback on how Lake Balaton is successfully building its four-season tourism offering, the press release stated.

Today, the Lake Balaton region offers families a wide range of cultural, active, and eco-tourism experiences in addition to beach activities. Castles, museums, visitor centers, adventure parks, zoos, and nature-based attractions are open year-round, while the natural treasures of the Balaton Uplands and Kis-Balaton area provide unique recreational opportunities for all age groups, they emphasized.
One of the region’s greatest strengths is its safe, family-friendly environment and the continuous improvement of quality services. During the summer season, certified accommodations and beaches play a key role; at the latter, the “Blue Wave Flag” system guarantees quality service, while under the coordination of VisitBalaton365, the region is increasingly becoming a year-round destination, stated VisitBalaton365.
