The intimacy of the Argentine National Team in the World Cup was leaked: who each player sleeps with and why Messi is alone

A few days before the start of the FIFA World Cup 2026a leak from the Argentine National Team concentration in Kansas revealed one of the best kept secrets of the Argentine team. Lionel Scaloni: the distribution of the rooms and the pairs that the world champions will share during the defense of their title.

But what caught the most attention was not the pairs of teammates, but a special situation involving Lionel Messi.

    Messi sleeps alone again

As occurred during the historic conquest of Qatar 2022the Argentine captain will have a single room in the hotel where the delegation is staying in Kansas.

The decision has an explanation that mixes custom, comfort and nostalgia. For years, Messi shared a room with Sergio “Kun” Agüero in the Albiceleste concentrations, but since the retirement of the former forward that tradition came to an end. Since then, the Argentine star usually stays alone during big tournaments.

However, a curious coincidence unleashed a wave of comments among fans.

    The cabal that excites Argentines

Messi occupies room 202 at the Origin Hotel in Kansas, the team’s headquarters during the World Cup. Some fans quickly found a sign that they consider positive.

The sum of the numbers in the room gives four (2+0+2=4), a figure that for many would symbolize an eventual fourth world star for Argentina.

The theory gained strength because in Qatar 2022 the captain occupied room 201 and the sum of those numbers gave three, exactly the number of world titles that Argentina achieved after beating France in the final.

For many fans it is a simple coincidence. For others, it is a new cabal on the route to another World Cup dream.

    The cabal that excites Argentines

The leak also confirmed that several historical friendships on the campus continue to share a room.

One of the most striking is the one formed by Rodrigo DePaul and Nicolas Otamenditwo of the closest footballers within the group and who already lived together during the World Cup in Qatar. Both will be housed in a room next to Messi’s.

The coaching staff decided to maintain several of the dynamics that worked during the 2022 conquest, convinced that coexistence was one of the keys to the success obtained in the Middle East.

This is the hotel where Scaloneta lives

The Argentine National Team set up its headquarters at the Origin Hotel in Kansas City, a boutique complex that was specially adapted to receive the world champions.

The hotel was specially adapted to receive the world champions.

The facilities were decorated with images of the footballers, albiceleste colors, murals alluding to the conquest of Qatar and exclusive spaces for the delegation. Even some areas of the hotel will remain closed to the public during the team’s stay.

The objective of the Argentine Football Association was to recreate a family atmosphere and maximum privacy so that the group could focus completely on the competition.

    Messi’s last great mission

The 2026 World Cup could represent Lionel Messi’s last participation in a World Cup.

Therefore, every detail around the captain generates special attention among fans. From his room to the cabals that accompany the national team, everything seems to feed the illusion of a country that dreams of touching glory again.

While Argentina refines the final details for its debut, the intimacy of the locker room has already begun to generate conversation. And as has happened so many times in the history of Albicelestesuperstitions, friendships and traditions once again occupy a place as important as football.
