This year, schoolchildren in Tajikistan will go on summer vacation on May 31, followed by the exam period, which will last until June 20. Students, depending on the curriculum of their educational institution, must pass exams before July 5 and go on vacation.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Tajikistan told Asia-Plus that 1st grade students will finish the school year on May 22, 2-4 grade students on May 29, and 5-11 grade students on May 30.
The deadline for passing transfer exams for students in grades 4-8 and 10 of secondary educational institutions is set from June 2 to June 10. 9th grade students take exams from June 2 to 15, and 11th grade graduates take exams from June 2 to 20.
The Ministry of Education and Science reported that students’ classes will be completed according to the curriculum of each university, institute and college, but all students must pass exams by July 5 and go on summer vacation.
The department added that this year, as in previous years, the “Last Bell” will not be held in schools in Tajikistan.
Summer holidays have been extended at the expense of others
Let us remind you that in Tajikistan school holiday dates have been changed. Now the autumn and winter holidays last 7 days, and the spring holidays – only 5 days, whereas previously schoolchildren rested for 10 days in the fall, winter and spring.
The new vacation schedule was approved by a decree of the Government of Tajikistan dated March 28, 2024. The Ministry of Education and Science noted that autumn, winter and spring holidays have been shortened to increase summer holidays: if before this change the fourth quarter ended on June 14, now it ends on May 31.
Today, instead of magnificent celebrations, schools hold modest meetings lasting up to 45 minutes, after which schoolchildren go to class. Parents are often prohibited from attending such events.
