“I think that the flag under which Gavro Vuković worked and lived, and contributed to Montenegro as a diplomat on the international level, cannot be separated from the historical context in which he lived, and I really do not see anything controversial in that, and that this historical flag exists in that context on Gavro Vuković’s house and is flown with the national flag,” said Minister of Culture and Media Tamara Vujović.
She said that Gavr Vuković’s house is not a protected cultural property in terms of the Law on the Protection of Cultural Property.
“Of course, it has a historical value and we pay due attention to it, because we have allocated significant funds for its reconstruction. However, there was a difference in interpretation regarding the way of highlighting itself,” said Vujović.
According to her, what happened is against both Gavr Vuković and some historical context and the history of Montenegro.
“We believe that something happened that is inappropriate, and that is casting a shadow on a big event, and this school is undeniably one of the best activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the longest tradition,” said Vujović.
