The memory of the fallen participants of the independence
On the current occasion of commemorating the events of independence, we could also remember the victims on the other, attacking side.
There were not trained commandos full of hatred for Slovenia, but young soldiers from various parts of Yugoslavia who didn’t even know where they were or why they were there. Their sacrifice is also tragic, because they were insufficiently and misinformed young soldiers who did not know what the conflict was about. Instead of proper information, they got a hot reception to which they had to respond and there were also unnecessary casualties on both sides. Given the appropriate historical distance, we could also investigate and explain and objectively evaluate the decisions of the independence-winners. Either they were really adequate and objectively professional, or they were also under the pressure of the desire to inflate a relatively modest military conflict as much as possible. The objectively uninvestigated and unsanctioned, proven unnecessary attack on the helicopter in Rožna dolina will be especially noticeable. Namely, the tragedy of the dead is on both sides, both deserve to be remembered for the needlessly lost lives.
