A resident of Uzbekistan, Alexander Fedin, who created a forest on his own in the Dzharkurgan district of the Surkhandarya region, will receive a permanent job and official housing. In addition, the forest he created will be transformed into a large dendrological park. This was reported by the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change.
The chairman of the committee and presidential adviser on environmental issues, Aziz Abdukhakimov, personally met with Fedin, told him about the decisions made and inspected the forest that the enthusiast had been growing for many years, writes “Fergana”.

According to the press service of the department, a dendrological park with an area of 1,500 hectares will be created on the territory of the Oktepa reservoir. Over the years of work, Fedin has formed a unique ecosystem here, which has become a habitat for wild animals, birds and other representatives of local biodiversity.
Alexander Fedin will be employed by the Forestry Agency, which is part of the Ecology Committee. He will also be provided with a service house with all the necessary conditions directly on the territory of the future arboretum.
Fedin’s story became widely known after the publication of journalist Fozil Farkhod. Several years ago, he dedicated an essay to the creator of the forest, and later found out that in October 2025, Fedin lost his job and ended up in the Surkhandarya regional branch of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Mental Health.
After posting on social networks this story caused a great public outcry and attracted the attention of the authorities.
As a result, Fedin left the medical institution and received temporary housing, and now state support and the opportunity to continue his life’s work.
