Occupied Laayoune, June 26, 2026 (SPS) – The Sahrawi civilian prisoner, Mohamed Al-Bashir Boutenkiza, is suffering from a deterioration in his health condition, according to what was reported by the Association for the Protection of Sahrawi Detainees in Moroccan Prisons.
The source explained, quoting a statement from the family of the civilian prisoner, Mohamed Al-Bashir Boutenkiza, indicating that he suffered severe bleeding at the level of hemorrhoids and that he lost a large amount of blood, which necessitated his transfer to the prison clinic, whose duty doctor decided that the patient’s condition required his urgent transfer to the hospital for medical examinations and urgent treatment. However, the director of the Central Prison in Kenitra refused to transfer the aforementioned detainee outside the prison walls, in a blatant denial of the right to medical care.
The same statement indicates that the aforementioned detainee is now bedridden, unable to move, and suffering from fatigue, loss of balance, and inability to move.
It should be noted that the Sahrawi civilian prisoner has been suffering from hemorrhoids for years, and for years he has been demanding that the prison administration allow him to go out to the hospital for treatment, but they always content themselves with giving him some sedatives that have had a negative impact on his digestive system.
In the face of this dangerous incident, the Association for the Protection of Sahrawi Prisoners appeals to all consciences and international bodies and organizations to intervene to save the Sahrawi civilian prisoner and deal humanely with his serious health condition. (SPA)
