On Saturday, nearly 200 protesters gathered at the fence around the construction of a luxury complex, which they knocked down – writes the Guardian. More recently, Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner’s project in Albania a protest was launched againstand the negative public sentiment seems to have spilled over to other construction projects.
On Saturday, residents of Rrjoll, in northwestern Albania, marched against a coastal construction site they say is taking place on illegally confiscated land. During the demonstration, they waved Albanian flags and shouted revolution. Although some people fought with the police while tearing down the fence, the authorities mostly just watched the events from a distance.
“The protests will not end until the people of Rrjoll are paid. The land of 200 families has been stolen”
said Zekel Nikolle Shullani, one of the protesters who has been protesting against the construction for months. The contractor for the construction of the luxury hotel planned for the area has received special investor rights from the government, which the locals say is crazy. According to the locals, the contractor refused to consult with them, they simply started the work.
