Shaheed El-Hafed, June 28, 2026 (SPS) – The National Council concluded its Spring Session on Sunday at its headquarters during a public sitting chaired by the member of the National Secretariat, Speaker of the National Council, Mr. Bachir Mustapha Sayed, in the presence of the member of the National Secretariat, Prime Minister, Mr. Bouchraya Hammoudi Bayoun, as well as members of the National Council and the Government.
The Speaker of the National Council emphasized that the legislative institution serves as a national forum for discussion, dialogue, and the exchange of ideas and perspectives. It also provides a platform for exercising national responsibility within the framework of cooperation and interaction between the legislative and executive branches, thereby strengthening oversight and evaluation, contributing to the development of institutional performance, and improving governance and management mechanisms.
On the sidelines of the closing of the Spring Session, the National Council organized a solidarity rally in support of Sahrawi civilian prisoners held in Moroccan prisons. During the event, the Council renewed its full solidarity with the prisoners and its support for their struggle for freedom and dignity, while calling for their immediate release in support of the ongoing national and international campaign advocating for Sahrawi prisoners.
