Shaheed El Hafed, June 29, 2026 (SPS) – The Member of the National Secretariat, Speaker of the National Council, Mr. Bashir Mustapha Sayed, stressed that the current phase requires moving beyond merely identifying shortcomings and documenting public concerns to taking concrete action through the implementation of executive plans and practical programs capable of addressing priority issues, thereby strengthening citizens’ confidence and improving the quality of governance and public services.
In his closing remarks on Sunday at the conclusion of the National Council’s 2026 Spring Session, the Speaker noted that this session was distinguished by its educational and awareness-raising character. It featured lectures and discussions focusing on citizens’ concerns and the specific challenges of the current stage, while also reflecting a spirit of integration, harmony, and cooperation among the various national institutions.
Mr. Bashir Mustapha Sayed pointed out that the field visits conducted by the different committees of the National Council, along with meetings held with regional authorities and national institutions, provided an opportunity to directly assess the reality of public services and citizens’ concerns. These visits also enabled the identification of a number of observations and challenges requiring practical and realistic solutions.
He emphasized that repeated meetings and field visits without tangible outcomes must give way to concrete action on the ground, translated into clear programs and effective implementation and monitoring mechanisms. Such efforts, he said, would help alleviate citizens’ hardships, reduce deficiencies, and reinforce the foundations of national resilience.
The Speaker of the National Council further affirmed that the legislative and executive authorities are two sides of the same coin, complementing one another in serving the organization, the citizen, and the national interest. This, he stressed, necessitates unifying efforts, strengthening coordination, and enhancing joint action among all national bodies and institutions.
