Denmark’s rail operator DSB scrapped its popular summer travel pass last year, but all is not lost if you’re on the lookout for a heavily discounted train trip this summer.
Between 2020 and 2024 rail operator DSB offered a popular summer travel pass during July and August, called the passport, or travel pass. But this was unfortunately discontinued in 2025.
First introduced in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, the passport (travel pass), gave the holder free access to all public transport in Denmark for eight consecutive days, all for the price of 399 kroner for adults.
If you are looking for bargain summer travel, however, all is not lost, with the company’s limited availability Orange tickets offering trips across the country for only 99 kroner a ticket.
A large batch of summer Orange tickets have already been released on the DSB website for travel between June 20th and August 3rd.
The tickets offer highly discounted travel between any two stations in Denmark for a maximum price of 99 kroner.
For example, a search on DSB’s website at the time of writing shows the option of traveling from Aalborg to Copenhagen for just 99 kroner on July 31st. The normal fare for the journey, which takes around 5 hours, is 523 kroner.

Keep in mind that these tickets cannot be changed or refunded, however, if you are traveling with up to two children under 12, they go free. Children aged 12-15 travel half price.
If you want to take a summer trip across the border to Sweden, there is also a way of doing this at a reduced rail fare.
Swedish travel operator Skånetrafiken offers a tourist ticket for unlimited travel within the region of Skåne as well as on the Danish side of the Øresund.
The saver ticket has a validity period of 48 hours and can be used by either tourists or residents in the region.
The price for 48 hours of unlimited travel within Skånetrafiken’s network on the Swedish side of the Öresund is 299 Swedish kronor (200 Danish kroner), while a ticket covering both Skåne and Copenhagen costs 599 kronor (415 kroner). This is valid well beyond just the city of Copenhagen, extending all the way to popular destinations like Helsingør and Gilleleje on the northern Zealand coast.
The travel pass is available on the Skånetrafiken app and will remain available after the summer season.
Skånetrafiken is also offers a summer ticket granting unlimited travel on regional trains in Skåne between June 15th and August 15th for just 599 kronor.
From July 1st, the cost of a monthly travel card with Skånetrafiken is also being halved – after the Swedish government announced a short term subsidy until the end of the year.
According to the Sydsvenskan newspaperthe cost of a commuting ticket to between towns in Skåne and Copenhagen are also being halved.
