“Our Rudi” did this with the seriousness and artistry that has been known for six decades. Not all artistic icons age without signs of decay; Argerich is an exception – bookbinders too. He plays his Mozart calmly, not always exciting, but always very appreciative, with incorruptible technique – he already demonstrated this in the “Jenamy” concert (former “Jeunehomme”). Alive, without wanting to set any records by force. This is not sophisticated official pianism, but rather an ideal basis upon which one can calibrate one’s own taste in Mozart.

To the benevolent applause of the audience, the jacket had to give way for the mature 25th Concerto K. 503, which was played less often. Here too: flawless, with a tasteful touch and a pinch of age-wise wisdom – in a friendly, rippling C major. In the second half, finally, “the” Mozart concerto, K. 466 in D minor, with elegant, light string movements from the small Camerata, darkly pushed by the double basses and accompanied by a rasping bassoon. Effective: Buchbinder’s robust approach in the romance and the stormy one in the finale. (lukewarm)
