The Dominican Karl-Anthony Towns said this Wednesday that the New York Knicks had to “come out of the mud” to complete the greatest comeback in the history of the NBA Finals.
“As anyone who lives in New York“If you want to succeed in this city you have to be prepared to get out of the mud, and that’s what we did tonight,” Towns said at a press conference.
The Knicks won 107-106 against the San Antonio Spurs after raising 29 points in the second half and making it 3-1 in the NBA Finals, on the verge of the ring.
The winning basket was a spectacular tap-in with one second left in the OG Anunobywhich Knicks coach Mike Brown defined as the “most iconic” basket in franchise history.
For Towns, he was “the right hand of God,” an expression that evokes the historical “hand of god” by Diego Armando Maradona against England in the 1986 World Cup.
With the series 3-1 in their favor, the Finals return to Texas for Game 5, which will be played this Saturday in San Antonio, where the Knicks will have the first opportunity to win their first ring since 1973.
