Likewise, the USGS preliminary assessment placed the risk of economic losses and victims in green levelsuggesting limited impact.
The Auckland Islands form a remote subantarctic archipelago located about 460 kilometers south of the South Island from New Zealand and do not have a permanent human presence.
New Zealand is located in the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, one of the areas with the greatest seismic and volcanic activity on the planet.
