Thousands of citizens have gathered today for the 13th consecutive day in front of the Prime Minister’s Office.
Their protest has marked a significant increase in participation in recent days.
Immigrants were also involved in the protest. Hundreds of immigrants have protested in recent days in cities such as Milan, Florence, Bologna, Genoa, Brussels, London and Berlin.
With placards in hand and red and black flags, they have called for change, while the protest has brought together students, young people, pensioners, children, professionals, immigrants, tourists and activists.
Under the slogans “Revolution” and “Tomorrow more”, the protesters have declared that they will continue their position until the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
They have also announced a rally on June 13, calling on diaspora immigrants to join.
During the protest, chants such as “Rama in prison, Berisha in prison”, “Rama is gone”, “Homeland is not for sale”, “New Albania”, “The end has come” and “Albania is ours” were heard.
Before starting the speeches, the protestors observed 1 minute of silence in honor of the martyrs of the Kosovo war.
The representative of the coordinating group called for a boycott of all sold media, asking for understanding for the media that are in the square doing their duty. “They are part of us,” she said.
Also, she said that even the administration that participated in the meeting with Rama does not like the government and is feeling forced, calling on them to join the protest.
Another protester raised concerns about the judiciary, which he described as corrupt. According to him, SPAK has all the support of the Albanian citizens to do justice and to investigate the politicians who have stolen the taxes of the Albanians.
After the speeches, the citizens started their march through the streets of the capital with the call “Rama n’burg, Berisha n’burg”.
