Siumut’s deputy in Inatsisartut this spring encourages his colleagues to actively participate in future meetings. He remembers that in the past members of Inatsisartut were not allowed to travel during the meetings. – It seems as if the sense of duty has disappeared here, he says.
Inatsisartut’s long spring collection was completed on Thursday. In total, there have been 29 meeting days spread over a period of 66 days, and some of the days the meetings have lasted into the evening. When all items on the agenda had been dealt with, the parties gave closing speeches, as is tradition.
Jess Svane gave a speech from Inatsisartut’s pulpit on behalf of Siumut. The experienced politician has participated in Inatsisartut’s meetings for about a month as a deputy for his party colleague Lars Poulsen. And he did not hide the fact that he had made some critical observations.
– I have seen with my own eyes what the responsibility as an elected official looks like in the course of a month. I am disappointed. It is as if the sense of duty has disappeared here, says Jess Svane from the podium.
He has experience in holding positions of heavy responsibility as mayor and member of Inatsisartut and Naalakkersuisut.

Among Jess Svane’s observations is that members of Inatsisartut are absent during periods of Inatsisartut gatherings, even traveling from Nuuk.
– During the meeting I have seen several times that some members of Inatsisartut were elsewhere. I have seen several times that they were in other cities.
– When we were members of Inatsisartut, we were not allowed to travel away during meetings. Certainly not. Your task in Inatsisartut is to supervise Naalakkersuisut’s work, criticized Jess Svane among other things.
Sermitsiaq followed the Municipal Board’s meeting in Municipality Qeqertalik in Qeqertarsuaq on 11 June. A member of Inatsisartut and the municipal council, Kristian Jeremiassen (IA), also participated in the meeting in Qeqertarsuaq.
Inatsisartut also held a meeting that day, and at the beginning of the meeting the conductor said that there was no clearing between the members. This means that all members of Inatsisartut had reported ready that day. Nevertheless, one of the members attended a meeting in another city and municipality.
