Jens-Frederik Nielsen is awarded the Nersornaat in gold

Monday got chairman of Naalakkersuisut, Jens-Frederik Nielsen (D), presented the medal of merit Nersornaat in gold.

The medal was awarded by the chairman of Inatsisartut, Kim Kielsen, who states in a press release that the medal is given for Jens-Frederik Nielsen’s political work.

He became Naalakkersuisoq for Erhverv and Råstoffer in 2020 and elected as chairman of Demokraatit the same year. In 2025, he became chairman of Naalakkersuisut.

Kielsen praised Jens-Frederik Nielsen’s abilities as a political leader in his speech:

– You have been a prominent and significant figure in our society and as a member of Naalakkersuisut you have helped shape a number of important policies that have had a direct impact on our communities. Not least during the complex geopolitical and foreign policy situation in Greenland, you have shown an ability to create unity.

– Your ability to navigate the complex political environment has been an inspiration to us all. You have not only been a strong voice for Greenland, but you have also been a bridge builder who has created a platform for cooperation between different countries and actors. You have managed to bring together people from different backgrounds and thus created a more inclusive and dialogue-seeking environment wherever you go, said Kim Kielsen, among others.

Your ability to navigate the complex political environment has been an inspiration to us all. You have not only been a strong voice for Greenland, but you have also been a bridge builder who has created a platform for cooperation between different countries and actors. You have managed to bring together people from different backgrounds and thus created a more inclusive and dialogue-seeking environment, wherever you are.

According to the regulations on Nersornaat in gold, the medal can only be awarded once a year. Gold medals belong to the Self-Government and must be returned to the Self-Government upon death.
