The Minister of Tourism and Traditional Industry, Houria Madahi, revealed her sector’s work plan for the period 2026-2028, which aims to attract 8 million tourists, highlighting that achieving this goal is mainly linked to providing qualified human resources, according to what was reported Thursday in a statement by the ministry.
During her supervision yesterday, Wednesday, of the graduation ceremony of batches of bachelor’s and master’s students at the Higher School of Hospitality and Catering, Madahi reported that “the tourism sector is witnessing continuous positive activity in line with the directives of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at making tourism an essential source of economic diversification and building a tourism model based on national components.”
She added that this plan “aims to attract 8 million tourists, through developing domestic tourism and improving accommodation conditions,” noting that this goal “is mainly linked to providing qualified human resources capable of providing modern services that respond to the aspirations of tourists.”
The Minister explained that “the efforts made, in coordination and partnership with several sectors and bodies, allowed during the first semester of the current year to train more than 4,000 tourist guides, 1,200 craftsmen, and more than 900 managers for hotel establishments and tourism and travel agencies,” stressing that “specialized training has become an imperative necessity to keep pace with the transformations and build a strong and sustainable tourism industry.”
The Minister also called on the owners of hotel and tourism establishments to “accompany the young graduating talents and provide them with professional integration opportunities.”
