The curtain came down at dawn on Wednesday on the matches of the second round of the 2026 World Cup group stage.
Before the start of the third and final round matches, seven teams succeeded in booking qualification tickets to the next round, including two of the tournament’s hosts, Mexico and the United States.
The following teams qualified for the round of 32: Mexico, the United States, Germany, Argentina, France, Norway, and Colombia.
Five teams officially bid farewell to the competition, after two successive defeats. These teams are: Haiti, Türkiye, Tunisia, Jordan, and Panama.
With eight of the 12 third-placed teams qualifying for the round of 32, and with the possibility of resorting to goal difference to separate them, many teams will not know their fate until the final whistle of the last match in the group stage.
