BORISOV DISTRICT, 25 June (BelTA) – In 2025, trade between Belarus and Russia’s Yugra amounted to $76.6 million, Governor of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra Ruslan Kukharuk said at a meeting of the breakout session Regional Policy as Key to Sustainable Development of the Union State at the 13th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia at the BELGEE enterprise on 25 June, BelTA has learned.
Speaking about Yugra’s cooperation with Belarusian regions on project implementation, the governor noted that his region ranks first among Russian regions in oil production, accounting for 5% of global output.
“In 2025, trade between Yugra and the Republic of Belarus reached $76.6 million, nearly double what it was just a few years ago. The potential for our cooperation is much greater, and I am confident these figures will grow. We are cooperating in road maintenance, with Belarusian companies supplying equipment for road upkeep and marking application. The development of economic ties also enables the strengthening of humanitarian cooperation. Representatives of Belarus are regular participants in Yugra’s international projects, including sports events, and young people from your country take part in volunteer projects,” he said, emphasizing that projects to preserve historical memory are also an important area of cooperation.
“Currently, we have ten cooperation and twinning agreements between Yugra and Belarusian oblasts. For example, Surgut is a reliable partner of Gomel; Beloyarsky has been cooperating with Vitebsk since 2016; and there is an agreement between Khanty-Mansiysk District and Mogilev District,” Ruslan Kukharuk said.
At the 13th Forum of Regions, a memorandum of understanding is to be signed between the government of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug and the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee. Additionally, action plans for 2026–2028 are scheduled to be signed between Nyagan and Krichev District, as well as between Langepas and Mozyr District.
