Intercepted communications
According to US officials cited by the newspaper, the CIA and senior officials from the Trump administration knew about the Qatari offer to Iran.

As the “Washington Post” states, Iran attacked the plant in March. The attack destroyed parts of the facility and key infrastructure that accounts for 20 percent of its liquefied gas production, jeopardizing international contracts worth billions of dollars.
