According to the Prosecutor’s Office this Friday, one of the teenagers, from 16 yearshad been formalized April 29 as the alleged perpetrator of the crime and remained hospitalized in the units of the National Institute for Adolescent Social Inclusion (INISA) as the investigation progressed.
As a result of the proceedings, that teenager was declared perpetrator of the homicide and a second teenager, arrested last June 3was declared co-author.
Both were held responsible for a very serious infraction provided for in criminal law as a crime of homicide especially aggravated by having been committed immediately after another crime.
The sentences
The Justice ordered as socio-educational measures the admission of adolescents to INISA.
The author received a sentence of five years and two months of hospitalizationwhile the co-author was sentenced to four years and two months.
The investigation was carried out by the 1st Shift Adolescent Prosecutor’s Officerepresented by the prosecutors Astrid Aragone, Daniela Ramos and Pilar Tabeira.
The crime that shocked the delivery drivers
The victim was a OrdersYa delivery man of Cuban nationality and 31 years oldwho was murdered during a attempted robbery on the night of April 24 in Carrasco Norte.
The crime generated commotion among delivery platform workers. Hours after the homicide, Dozens of delivery workers gathered at the scene to demand justice and denounce the unsafe conditions in which they carry out their work.
The murder occurred in a context of growing concern about attacks on delivery drivers. That same day, A 22-year-old young man who worked for a pizzeria was murdered during an attempted robbery of his motorcycle in Prado.
Days before, the April 13another PedidosYa delivery man, the Venezuelan Juan Carlos Mendozaof 62 yearshad been murdered after a traffic argument in the center of Montevideo.
The investigation allowed the identification and arrest of the two teenagers now convictedwho will comply with the measures ordered by Justice in INISA offices.
