Expressiveness
On the occasion of the Hijri year 1448 AH, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments announced on Thursday evening in a statement that the zakat quorum for the last Hijri year was estimated at 2,295,000 dinars, 229.5 million centimes.
The aforementioned amount represents the value of 20 gold dinars. Or the equivalent of the weight of 85 grams of the yellow metal, the value of one gram of which was set, at the beginning of this Hijri year, by the National Agency for the Transfer and Distribution of Gold and Precious Metals (AGENOR), at 27,000 dinars (18 karat).
“Therefore, the quorum is calculated as follows: 85 x 27,000 dinars = 2,295,000 dinars,” the ministry explains. A reminder of “the obligation to pay 2.5 percent of every money that has reached the aforementioned quorum, and one (year) year has passed, from money or from commercial goods and goods, which are valued at their market price on the day of zakat.”
The ministry said at the same time Statement, It “placed at the disposal of the zakat payers the state postal accounts affiliated with the National Bureau of Endowments and Zakat, in order to pay their zakat directly there, or the zakat funds at the level of the nation’s mosques.”
