Iran has again suspended shipping through the Strait of Hormuz in response to Israel’s continued attacks on Lebanon and the United States’ violation of a general cease-fire clause in the Iran-US Memorandum of Understanding.
According to the media, such a statement was made by the Military Command of the Central Headquarters of the Armed Forces of Iran.
“Given the US’s gross violation of its promises and failure to fulfill the first point of the memorandum of understanding on ending the war, as well as Israel’s continuous violations of the ceasefire in southern Lebanon, the Strait of Hormuz is declared closed,” the statement, the text of which was presented by Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB, said.
It is noted that if the aggression against Lebanon continues, Tehran will take new steps to ensure the fulfillment of the mentioned obligations.
