Representatives of at least two of the victims of thallium poisoning in raspberries, who arrived at the apartment of businessman Juan de Bedout, located north of Bogotá, they are asking the Prosecutor’s Office to immediately come in to resolve the legal situation of Zulma Guzmán, the main suspect.
The woman remains in HMP Bronzefield prison in the United Kingdom, awaiting her extradition. However, the process can take months and what is being requested is that priority be given to the charging of charges – virtually – for double homicide and attempted homicide.

Sources from the Ministry of Justice told EL TIEMPO that all the judicial and diplomatic requests from the United Kingdom for the sending of Guzmán have been answered. Meanwhile, the prosecutors point out that, in parallel, they are seeking additional information to prove that the girls’ case was not the first and that they may even be facing a serial criminal.
EL TIEMPO investigated and established that, under this last line of investigation, Juan de Bedout – with whom Zulma Guzmán had a romantic relationship – was summoned to answer if he knows one of the two women to whom his ex-partner would have sent contaminated addresses.
It is already known that one of them is Elvira Restrepo, Guzmán’s ex-sister-in-law. The academic received an address at her residence that contained presumably poisoned chocolates. The other is a model identified as Catalina Ramírez. Regarding her, there is talk of chocolates and ice cream also sent by Guzmán under the domiciliary mechanism, the same way of operating in the case of the girls.

EL TIEMPO established that the prosecutor in the case, Elsa Reyes – the same one in the Miguel Uribe assassination case – summoned De Bedout to establish if she knew the model. The Prosecutor’s Office also seeks to establish the link between the double thallium poisoning suffered by Alicia Graham, Bedout’s wife, who died in 2021 from cancer.
The economist, who already admitted the relationship with Zulma Guzmán, told the Prosecutor’s Office that he did not know anyone who answers to the name of Catalina Ramírez, the model.
And when they looked for his photo on the Internet, he confirmed that he would remember if he had come across it, but the only Catalina he knows is an old friend from school.
He also made his cell phone available to verify that he had no contact with her. The model is out of the country and the Prosecutor’s Office is trying to locate her so she can talk about her ties to Zulma and the fate of the chocolate shipment.
