The city of Skopje will get a new fire station in the municipality of Aerodrom, Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski announced on his Facebook profile.
The funds for the construction, as he wrote, in the amount of 50 million denars, were secured through the rebalancing of the budget at today’s session of the Council of the City of Skopje.
– The new facility will be located near the Public Health Center and will represent a serious step towards a better organization, faster reaction and greater safety for the citizens – said Gjordjievski.
The mayor pointed out that the firefighters are the true heroes of the city, people who put their lives at risk every day to save human lives, homes and public goods.
– They deserve modern working conditions, modern equipment and dignified infrastructure – he added.
With the construction of the new station, as pointed out by Gjorgjievski, a faster reaction during technical interventions and more effective protection against fires will be enabled, both in an urban environment and in an open space.
– This is just one of the steps towards the complete modernization of the Fire Brigade of the City of Skopje. Our commitment is for the firefighters to get the conditions they deserve, and for Skopje to get a system that is ready, fast and efficient when it is most needed – stressed the mayor.
He thanked all the councilors who supported the project, evaluating it as of great importance for the safety of all citizens of Skopje.
