After he brought from Vukovar Lovra Banovacone of the most pleasant surprises last spring, Slaven Belupo presented another reinforcement. The former goalkeeper of Hajduk became a new member of the Koprivnica first league team Karlo Sentić.
“Karlo Sentić, a 25-year-old goalkeeper from Dubrovnik, is the new reinforcement of Slaven Belup for the next season. He signed a contract with the Koprivnica first league team for two years, and he will be available to coach Gregurina from the first day of the preparations, which start today in the afternoon.
Sentić’s name is not unknown to connoisseurs of Croatian football. He spent most of his career in Hajduk, but he moved to Koprivnica from Hungary, where he defended the colors of Diósgyõr, a club from the north-east of the country, not far from the border with Slovakia, for the last two seasons. He defended for Diósgyõr in 49 games, but since the club was relegated to the second tier of Hungarian football, and his contract expired, he decided to seek happiness in a new environment and quickly agreed with the leaders of Slaven Belup,” the Koprivnica club announced.
Sentić grew up playing football in Hajduk, where he arrived in 2015 from the Libertas Football Academy. He went through all the junior categories of the Split club, played for another team, and in the 2021/22 season. he spent on loan in Varaždin, with whom he won entry to the HNL.
“He is a child of Hajduk, where he transferred in 2015 from the Libertas Football Academy. In Split, he went through all the junior categories, played for the B team of Hajduk, and in the summer of 2021 he went on a one-year loan to Varaždin, which was then in the second division. The following season he returned to Hajduk, made his debut in the HNL, played 18 games, and then in 2023 went on his first half-year loan to Diósgyõr. Part Two that season, i.e. at the beginning of 2024, he moved to Kazakhstan’s Ordabasy, where he did not play, to be transferred to Hungary in the summer of the same year.
So, although a fairly young goalkeeper, Sentić has a wealth of experience behind him, and he is returning to the Croatian league after three full years. At the same time, it should be emphasized that at one time he also wore the jerseys of several Croatian national teams, from U-19 to U-21, and he has recorded six matches in the checkered jersey. In his career, he also won two cups – the second league with Varaždin and the Cup with Hajduk in 2023,” reads Slaven Belupa’s announcement.
