The Kia EV2 demonstrated outstanding performance and efficiency in real-world conditions at the NAF El Prix EV summer test, the world’s largest independent test of electric vehicles conducted by the Norwegian Automobile Federation (NAF) and Motor. In the summer El Prix EV test, held on June 3 in Oslo, the Kia EV2 with the standard 42.2 kWh battery reached a range of 325 km – 17 km above its combined WLTP value of 308 km – exceeding 105 percent of its official figure. This result ranked the EV2 first among all compact and mid-sized electric vehicles tested, confirming its class-leading real-world efficiency (12.4 kWh/100 km).
Under the same conditions – on dry roads and temperatures between 12 and 18°C - the EV2 GTLine Long Range prototype, equipped with a 61.0 kWh battery and 19-inch wheels, achieved 428 km, exceeding its target range of 418 km and reaching more than 102 percent of its combined WLTP figure. It outperformed most vehicles in the test, with an average energy consumption of 13.8 kWh/100 km.
“Achieving the best real-world performance among compact and midsize vehicles in the NAF Summer El Prix EV test is a strong endorsement of the EV2’s customer-focused engineering,” said Pablo Martinez Masip, vice president of product, marketing and customer experience at Kia Europe.
– Exceeding 105 percent of its WLTP range, the EV2 clearly demonstrates outstanding efficiency and reliability. These independent results confirm that the EV2 has been designed around the real needs of customers – providing reliable everyday usability while giving drivers confidence for further journeys, whether it’s daily commutes or longer holiday journeys.
These results confirm the EV2’s strong performance in the NAF winter test earlier this year, when the EV2 GT-Line Long Range prototype covered 310.6 km in the coldest edition on record. Together, they highlight the model’s consistent and reliable performance across a variety of powertrain configurations.
The NAF El Prix test, held in both winter and summer, evaluates all electric vehicle models under identical real-world driving and charging conditions to provide customers with reliable data. These benchmark results show that the EV2 is fully capable of real-world driving, from urban mobility to longer journeys.
Leading the transition in Europe The Kia EV2 is a fully electric B-segment SUV and the brand’s most compact electric vehicle to date. It is designed as a primary household vehicle, targeting one of Europe’s best-selling segments. The EV2 is engineered to deliver strong real-world usability and performance, with predictable performance and day-to-day reliability.
Both battery options operate on a 400V architecture. Under optimal conditions, DC fast charging from 10 to 80 percent takes 29 minutes for the standard-range version and about 30 minutes for the long-range model. For the first time in a Kia model at launch, the EV2 supports both 11 kW and 22 kW AC charging.
The EV2 is Kia’s second dedicated electric model, which is produced at Kia AutoLand Slovakia in Žilina. The standard range version of 42.2 kWh is currently in production, and the long range versions of 61.0 kWh and GT Line will follow from June 2026. Start of sales on June 24, promotional price from 25,999 euros.
