The TOUTATIS short-range roving munition, intended for high-intensity conflicts, provides the armed forces with a new operational advantage. Because of its exceptional versatility, infantry units can easily use it in the field, and it can be launched from a variety of platforms, including combat vehicles, aircraft and ships. TOUTATIS is resistant to electromagnetic interference and equipped with a warhead that adapts to the specifics of the mission. It successfully neutralizes targets such as combat vehicles, while human operators still make key decisions during control. The system can also operate within a swarm of unmanned aerial vehicles, and its flexible design enables rapid adaptation to changing battlefield requirements.
– This new strategic partnership between Thales and the Renault Group unites the forces of the two French leaders for the benefit of the domestic sovereign drone industry. The Renault Group invests its rich industrial experience and the highest standards of automotive production in the TOUTATIS project. Thanks to this, the entire process, from design to mass production, will be much faster, and costs will be optimized. I am extremely proud of the achievements of our teams. Their engagement concretely contributes to the initiatives that we implement in cooperation with the French Ministry of the Armed Forces and further strengthens the defense capabilities of France and Europe.” François Provost, CEO of the Renault Group.
– The partnership with the Renault Group is an important milestone in the strengthening of world-class sovereign and mass capacities in the segment of unmanned aerial vehicles. By combining Thales’ excellence in advanced technologies with the industrial strength of the Renault Group, we directly respond to the needs of the military and meet the demands of the war economy – Patrice Caine, President and CEO, Thales
At the Eurosatory fair, Renault Group and Thales also presented 4 TROOP – an innovative tactical vehicle designed for the increasingly complex operational requirements of the ground forces. The vehicle integrates drones, sensors, secure hybrid communications and AI-based decision support tools, significantly enhancing the operational capabilities of the armed forces.
It is a prototype based on Renault’s VCMR (Vehicle de Combat Multi-Roles) platform, which combines automotive industrial production with advanced military communication and digital systems. The companies point out that the aim of the project is to develop a new generation of multipurpose military vehicles that can be produced quickly, in large series and at lower costs than traditional military platforms. In practice, 4 TROOP functions as a mobile command center that can be adapted to different missions – from reconnaissance and troop coordination to logistical support, protection of sensitive locations and surveillance of the area of operation.
