RIMINI – Monday 21 September Rimini celebrates the 82nd anniversary of the Liberation of the city, which took place on 21 September 1944, with a day of commemorations and initiatives dedicated to historical memory.
The program will begin at 11am at the War Memorial in the Commonwealth War Cemetery, along the highway to San Marino, with the laying of a laurel wreath in memory of the soldiers who fell during the Second World War. At 11.30 a second tribute will follow at the monument to the Fallen of Monte Cieco, in via Santa Cristina.
In the afternoon, at 5pm in the municipal film library room in via Gambalunga 27, the podcast “Crossing stories – The streets of democracy” will be presented, written and narrated by Alberto Gagliardo. The project uses odonomastics to tell the story of the people after whom streets, squares and other city spaces are named, reconstructing their role in the liberation struggles and the birth of democracy.

The podcast is produced by the Icaro Group with the contribution of the Cassa di Risparmio di Rimini Foundation and the Municipality of Rimini-Biblioteca Gambalunga and is part of the Podcasting Festival calendar. The celebrations in Rimini will continue until September 30th with a new appointment in the Cineteca dedicated to displacement in the Republic of San Marino during the war.
