First, the Tax Agency stated that citizens had to wait at least a week due to further errors in the Suila tapit calculations. A few hours later, a new message has arrived: The error has been found, and the annual statements are sent out anyway. 7,521 citizens are notified that they must repay Suila tapit because they have been paid too much.
The Tax Agency is now in action by sending new annual statements to Suila-tapit via e-Boks. Earlier in the day it sounded otherwise that the annual statements would be at the earliest sent out next week. But now the Tax Agency has found the error and is therefore sending out the annual statements anyway.
This means that 7,521 citizens have to pay money back, while 4,839 citizens have money to their credit. This is almost a halving of the number of citizens with money to their credit compared to the figures the Tax Agency came up with in August.
At that time the message was, that 7,161 citizens had to pay a total of DKK 30.2 million left in Suila carpet, while 9,443 citizens had been paid too little and therefore had money to spare.
On 2 September, however, the Tax Agency announced that several errors had been found in the calculations of the Suila carpet. This meant that the annual statements for up to 22,000 citizens had to be recalculated.
The revised annual accounts have now been sent out.
Need to improve the calculations
The Tax Agency states that the citizens must repay a total of DKK 31.9 million. DKK, while 14.2 million DKK must be paid to citizens who have received too little.
At the same time, the Tax Agency will change the calculations behind the monthly payments. The goal is for the amounts to be calculated more accurately in future, so that fewer citizens end up having to pay money back.
– Concretely, we delve into those cases where citizens either have to pay out a lot or have to repay a lot. But we also look at cases where citizens have been paid a little too much month after month. For some, this may mean that in future we will pay out a little less month by month, but in turn reduces the risk that they will receive a bill in August next year, says Acting Director of the Tax Agency Lisbeth Møller Jensen.
At the same time, she emphasizes that the Suila carpet is calculated based on the citizens’ expected annual income.
– The system pays out Suila carpet on the basis of expected annual income. Therefore, it will never hit exactly. But we can state that there are good opportunities for improvement, says Lisbeth Møller Jensen.
If the citizen has to pay Suila carpet back, a charge will be sent to e-Boks by 1 October at the latest. The last payment deadline is 31 October. If the citizen has money to his credit, the money is paid to NemKonto.
