On Thursday, the sun is shining near the sea, the air temperature is around 22 degrees, the water is 17 degrees, but swimming is still dangerous.
The Klaipėda lifeguard service warned vacationers on Thursday morning that swimming in the Baltic Sea is prohibited because of strong back currents.
In the afternoon, the lifeguards of Klaipėda no longer forbade swimming, but warned that the dangers have not disappeared, as there are prevailing back currents that can carry careless swimmers into the sea.
The sun also shines in Palanga, the air temperature is similar to Klaipėda, and the water is warmer – the water temperature reaches 19 degrees. The wind is light.
However, Palanga’s lifeguard service has raised a yellow flag and warns revelers that swimming in the sea is dangerous – strong longitudinal currents, many coastal pits. On Wednesday, it was forbidden to swim on the beaches of Palanga.
