Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Friday that an agreement had been reached on the final text of a peace deal between USA and his Iran.
As he added in a post on X, Islamabad is working with both sides to finalize the next steps.
At midday on Friday, Reuters, citing a Western source, had reported that the memorandum of understanding between the two sides could be signed as early as Sunday, with Geneva emerging as the most likely location for the ceremony.
It is recalled that the Iranian news agency IRNA reported that, based on the draft framework agreement with the United States that aims to end the war in the Middle East, Tehran is not going to relinquish control of the Straits of Hormuz.
The same source reported that based on the draft agreement the issue of Iran’s nuclear program will be addressed during the 60 days of negotiations that Tehran will conduct with Washington, with Iran insisting on the “right” to enrich uranium.
For his part, the American president, Donald Trump, said that what was being leaked by Iran regarding the terms of the agreement is untrue. “The terms leaked by Iran have nothing to do with the terms that were agreed upon, in writing,” he argued, among other things, in his post.
