Negotiations are underway between Iran and the United States to reach an “interim agreement”, according to statements by the Iranian foreign minister, Abbas Aragchi.
Although the final memorandum of understanding has not been signed yet remains open to changeAraghchi confirmed that the framework of the proposed agreement provides for an end to the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, as well as an end to the US blockade while reopening the Straits of Hormuz.
Regarding the critical nuclear issues, Aragchi clarified that these are to be discussed at later stages of the consultations. Finally, the Iranian official was quick to point out that “enemy countries”, such as Israel, strongly oppose the prospect of an agreement between Tehran and Washington.
