The international festivals of the “Diko Iliev” brass bands have been held in Montana for 38 years. They are organized in honor of Diko Iliev, Bulgarian folk and military composer, musician and conductor.
He was born on February 15, 1898 in Karlukovo. He died on November 30, 1984 in Montana. He created several wind orchestras in Vrachansko and Montansko. The basis of his works is folk art. Diko Iliev is the creator of the chorà genre for brass bands, which is gaining wide popularity, the mayor of Montana Zlatko Zhivkov recalled.
