The Russian bombers were escorted by Su-30SM fighters and refueled during the flight.
“Strategic missile carriers Tu-95MS of the long-range aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out a planned flight in the airspace over the neutral waters of the Barents Sea and the Norwegian Sea,” the Ministry of Defense of Russia informed the Daily Express.
The case comes amid a warning from Security Council Vice President and former Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev that the world is moving towards nuclear war.
“A nuclear apocalypse is completely possible. Those who do not realize it are dreamers or fools. We do not want this to happen. However, such a scenario should not be ignored. We must be prepared for it. For this purpose, our country has strategic nuclear forces. These forces are maintained and ready,” he said.
