The people of the Upper Gharbi and Lower Gharbi districts in Jabal Al Mahwit District inaugurated the second phase of the community initiative to pave and repair the rugged areas on the As-Siyah-Lower Western Road linking the two districts.
The second phase of the initiative includes building retaining walls and retaining walls for the road, while the work carried out in the first phase included building a retaining wall for the road’s path in the Rahhan area, cutting stones, creating the longitudinal and transverse belts, and carrying out retaining works for an area of 800 square metres. The cost of the materials used in carrying out the works amounted to more than four million riyals, funded by the people of the region.
The head of the community committee for the initiative, Khaled Al-Tafbani, stressed everyone’s keenness to continue working on leveling and improving the road’s paths until the project is completed, given the service and agricultural importance the road represents.
He pointed out that the road passes through a number of valleys and fertile agricultural lands, indicating that treating the rugged areas on it will contribute to facilitating the movement of citizens and transporting agricultural products, and encouraging farmers to reclaim more lands.
