The chairman of the Democratic Party in Albania, Sali Berisha, has said that the United States of America has decided to remove the “non grata” designation.
Since there is still no official communication, Berisha was asked by journalists to confirm itbut stated that as long as it is in front of them, it is also an official communication.
There is still no official communication from the American State Department (DASH) or the US Embassy in Tirana.
DASH declared “non grata” Berisha and members of his immediate family in May 2021.
DASH claimed that Berisha, in his official capacity, in particular as Prime Minister of Albania, was involved in corrupt actions, such as embezzlement of public funds and interference in public processes.
According to DASH, the former Albanian prime minister has used his power for benefits and to enrich his political allies and members of his family.
