The multi-sport event has returned to the Olympic Council of Asia calendar ten years since it was last held in Da Nang, Vietnam.
The opening ceremony was held in the coastal area of the Tianya Haijiao Complex. The format of the show differed from traditional stadium ones: the action took place directly on the seashore, and the audience was almost next to the ceremony site.
The flag bearers of the Kazakhstan national team at the parade of athletes were water polo player Murat Shakenov and Diana Erzhanova (aquathlon). In total, our country will be represented in nine sports in Sanya.
The concept of the opening ceremony was built around the themes of vitality, openness, and the meeting of sea and sky. Through visual and production solutions, the organizers reflected the image of Hainan Island as a region with rich nature and emphasized the idea of unity of Asian countries through sports.
The visual part of the show combined modern technological solutions with cultural elements of China. In particular, the production involved robotic elements integrated into the ceremony script, various special effects and large artistic structures in the form of sea animals, symbolizing the harmony of man and nature. At the end, a colorful ceremony of lighting the flame of the Asian Beach Games 2026 took place.
Let us remind you that the Beach Asian Games will be held from April 22 to 30. About 1,790 athletes will take part in it. The competition will be held in eight cluster zones along Sanya Bay, on the river of the same name, as well as in the city’s sports center. The emphasis was on the use and modernization of existing facilities. China is hosting the Games for the second time in history. The previous multi-sport event took place in Haiyan in 2012.
